Meet Archway: The Liberty Print That Looks Like a Wildflower Meadow Painted by Hand

Meet Archway: The Liberty Print That Looks Like a Wildflower Meadow Painted by Hand

A new Liberty London blouse — and the story behind why we chose it

When I first saw the Archway print, I just knew. We had never had anything like it in the Sorority collection — and I couldn't let it go.

That instinct is rare. After years of sourcing Liberty London fabrics, you develop a sense for the prints that will resonate. Some are beautiful in a quiet way. Archway is beautiful in a way that stops you.

The print behind the blouse

Archway begins not on a screen, but on paper. Drawn in pencil and painted with traditional Japanese Gansai watercolours, it is a celebration of European wildflowers — poppies, gerberas, scabious, delphinium, amaranth, dianthus, gentian and anemones — arranged in a subtly mirrored composition that captures nature's balance between chaos and symmetry.

It is, in the most literal sense, a garden painted by hand.

The soft pink colourway is what has drawn people in first. There is something about it — warm without being saccharine, feminine without being precious. It reads almost like a garden print, the kind of thing you might find pressed between the pages of an old book and wonder how something so delicate could be so vivid.

The green colourway is its equal in a completely different way. Where the pink is soft and romantic, the green is fresh and grounded. Two colourways, equally lovely, equally Sorority.

Why Liberty London fabric

Liberty London has been printing fabric in the same tradition for over a century. What makes their cotton extraordinary is not just the prints — it is the weight, the drape, the way it moves against skin. It is 100% cotton that behaves like something finer.

In Australia, genuine Liberty London fabric pieces are rare. Sorority was founded because I couldn't find them here — quality Liberty cotton blouses made for real women, in real sizes. That is still what we do.

The blouse

Crafted from 100% Liberty cotton, the Archway blouse features a relaxed, slightly oversized silhouette with button-fastened cuff sleeves. The fit flatters every figure — we size from 8 to 22 — and the fabric requires minimal ironing, which anyone who knows Liberty cotton will appreciate.

It transitions effortlessly from season to season. Wear it with shorts in summer. Layer it under a blazer when temperatures drop. Tuck it into wide-leg trousers for something more considered, or leave it loose over linen pants for an easy weekend look.

A note on sizing: we recommend sizing down if you prefer a more fitted silhouette. The relaxed cut is intentional, but it does come up generously.

How to style Archway

The print does most of the work, so keep everything else simple.

  • Warm weather: white linen shorts, tan sandals, straw hat
  • Cooler days: tailored camel blazer, straight-leg jeans, tan loafers
  • Weekend: wide-leg cream trousers, simple slides, minimal gold jewellery
  • Smart casual: navy trousers, block heel mules, small leather bag

A note from me

Sorority was built around the belief that beautiful things are worth seeking out — that a woman in rural Queensland deserves the same quality and care as anyone shopping in a Sydney boutique.

Archway is that belief made into fabric. It is the kind of piece you reach for again and again, that travels well, that earns compliments from strangers, that you will still love in ten years.

We made it in two colourways because we couldn't choose. We think you might feel the same.
