Why We Never Design a Dress Without Pockets

Ask any woman why she loves a particular dress, and somewhere in the answer you will very likely hear the words "and it has pockets." It's said like a bonus. We don't think it should be.

Comfort and beauty were never supposed to be a trade-off

Somewhere along the way, women's clothing decided that pockets and a good silhouette couldn't coexist — that if you wanted a dress that looked beautiful, you'd carry a bag for the essentials and like it. We've never accepted that trade-off. Quality over quantity, comfort without compromise: if a dress can't hold your phone, your keys and a lip balm, we don't think it's finished yet.

Every dress we make is designed with functional, honest-to-goodness pockets from the very first sketch — not added as an afterthought once the silhouette is locked in. It's a small thing that changes how a dress actually lives in your day: hands free at the farmers market, phone within reach at a birthday lunch, nothing to fumble for at the school gate.

Where to find our dresses with pockets

Every dress currently in the range has them, but a few of our favourites for putting pockets to good use:

  • Georgina — a pink floral cotton maxi, $249 AUD
  • Marina — a blue stripe cotton maxi, $249 AUD
  • Clara — a vintage floral linen maxi, $279 AUD
  • Cybil — a cornflower blue linen shirt dress, $249 AUD
  • Elenor — a navy linen midi, $79 AUD
  • Sadie — a cream floral cotton maxi, $89 AUD

It's a small detail with a big effect

None of this is a trend for us — it's simply how we believe a dress with pockets should be designed. Practical doesn't have to mean plain, and a dress that works as hard as you do is always going to feel better to wear than one that just looks good in a photo.
